Largely self-taught, I made the decision to work as an artist full time after many career changes. I am fascinated by colour, pattern, shape, line and luminosity, working mainly in watercolour, pastel and charcoal to express my ideas that are very much about discovering the extraordinariness of the world around us, whether through the vehicle of the imagination or through observational drawing. Whatever arrests my attention, or inspires me may become subjects for my work. I follow threads of inspiration wherever they lead me, and often work in series and on different ideas in parallel. My preferred mediums are charcoal, soft pastel and watercolour often using them in combinations, but I also work in acrylics and oils. From the 19th to the 30th August I will be showing my work with two other artists: David Brooke, also a DVA member and Devon based artist Elaine Dixon, at the wonderful Eype Centre for the Arts, Eype Church, Mount Lane, Eype, Bridport, DT6 6AR. We all make work from the imagination but in very different styles and mediums. We will be there every day from 10am to 4.30pm. Plenty of free on-site parking. Hope you can come along.
