Ingrid Ellis

I'm a passionate quilter and mixed media artist. Naturally, I love the juxtaposition of colours, stitching by hand and machine, the three-dimensionality of quilting as well as printing, painting and collaging. My journey started via City & Guilds in embroidery and quilting where I learnt many techniques. I am excited to mix these together and, more recently, with paint and collage and whatever else lends itself. I also make very colourful and intricate wall quilts. My technique is very difficult to describe as it varies with each picture. I guess my influences are Hilma af Klint, a Swedish painter, also Sonia Delaunay, French artist, as well as Antoni Gaudi, Spanish architect and designer, and Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the Austrian visual artist and architect. I have participated in many exhibitions in London and around Dorset.
