Drawing has been at the heart of my creativity since childhood, fostering a lifelong fascination with colour, pattern and the discipline of making by hand. An early career as a designer for Axminster Carpets in Devon provided a strong foundation in design principles and traditional textile craftsmanship. My practice centres on hand-felted wall panels made from merino fleece and silk. Wet felting is an intuitive, tactile process that enables me to create layered surfaces and organic forms rich in colour and texture. I often incorporate stitching and beadwork to highlight delicate details, adding depth, contrast and points of discovery within each piece. Felting has encouraged me to explore bold colour combinations and fluid shapes that influence my wider creative work. Rather than attempting to reproduce nature literally, I allow landscapes, flowers and natural forms to be filtered through memory and intuition. The natural world is a constant source of inspiration, from coastal environments and changing light to the intricate structures of plants and seed heads. Through my textiles, I aim to celebrate the beauty of organic forms and the quiet, contemplative pleasure of making by hand.
