Handmade In Britain: Call for artists

Handmade In Britain in association with Handmade Interiors London and Bir Nokta Istanbul is proud to announce their first Istanbul exhibition showcasing British designer-makers and emerging design talent, ‘Fusion’ to coincide with Istanbul being ‘The European Capital of Culture 2010’. For the exhibition Handmade in Britain will choose around 15 British designer makers and Handmade in Britain will showcase their work in Istanbul. Handmade in Britain will be responsible for all aspects of the exhibition and sales.

Exhibition details:
Date: 6 - 9th May 2010
Private View Evening: 6th May 2010

Venue: Bir Nokta Gallery (http://www.bir-nokta.com) - a vibrant contemporary gallery in the heart of the bohemian neighborhood of Beyoglu in Istanbul, Turkey.

Application Details:
Cost to exhibit: £100.

Once selected, designers are required to give the products in a ‘sale or return’ capacity, with a list of trade/ wholesale prices, an appropriate mark-up will be added. The fee and the mark-up will cover the exhibition costs such as transport, customs, duty, tax, sales staff, exhibition space hire and utilities, credit card facilities, security, set up and breakdown, insurance, promotion, private view evening and catering and all other expenses.

Handmade in Britain is interested in unique contemporary art pieces as well as design led commercial items that we will be selected keeping in mind the customer profile in Istanbul.

The exhibition is aimed at general members of the public as well as high-end boutiques and galleries.

General Terms and Conditions

1. Participation fee for the exhibitors is £100.

2. Exhibitors should send between 12 – 30 pieces to the exhibition.

3. Pieces should be well packed to be sent to Istanbul.

4. Handmade In Britain require photograph of each product and a short profile detailing your work.

5. Handmade In Britain will take the products to the exhibition and sell them on a ‘sale or return’ basis. Handmade In Britain will ask you to give a us a list of your ‘trade’ prices for each product.

6. For any future commission and orders in Turkey Handmade Interiors will be the sole agent on a commission basis.

7. Retail prices of the products in the exhibition will be in the full discretion of Handmade Interiors.

8. Payment of sold items will be made 4 weeks after the close of the exhibition to allow for international clearance of credit cards and bank transfers.

9. Any unsold items can be collected from our London gallery within 4 weeks of the end of the exhibition.
