Drawing remains central to my work. The experiences gained from solitary hours spent in the woods and other locations feed the development of ideas for painting and sculptural work. The effect of light, the notion of the circulation of currents of air, the energy of the natural world and the presence of man within these environments, all provide starting points from which my ideas evolve.

I work both on location and in the studio. Observed studies provide a framework for painting in oil and drawings in mixed media, which explore colour relationships, tonal contrast and the oppositions of positive and negative space.
