Fine Art Sculpture
After being invalided out of the Royal Air Force I studied Art on a foundation course at Salisbury College but since creating my first 3 dimensional piece of work I have never looked back, leading to a degree in Fine Art Sculpture at the Winchester School of Art.
Through my work I look at social issues ranging from disability, homelessness and domestic violence to conflict and religion. With such pieces I have exhibited in Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire culminating in an exhibit for Salisbury Cathedral in conjunction with The European Conference for the Homeless. My work encompasses many different disciplines and therefor materials, varying from very large metal kinetic pieces to very delicate glass ones. My latest sculptures have been carvings as I have been studying the works and techniques of the classical sculptors hoping to bring the ancient and modern; past and present together into a symbiotic form. Showing the lessons that we have or have not learnt and the progress that we have or have not made as a society.
