Stephen Bishop is a professional contemporary artist who has been living and painting in Dorset since 1989. His studio at Langton Matravers is only a mile or so from the beautiful Dancing Ledge coastline, designated a World Heritage Site. S tudio visits welcome by appointment.

Inspired by memories of childhood holidays in the Purbecks, Stephen was inexorably drawn back to live in Dorset. The cliff top, woodland, sand dunes and lakes of the Isle of Purbeck, as well as the remnants of Hardy's Egdon Heath, are his daily muse.

Stephen has developed a unique figurative/abstract interpretation of land and seascape. His oil paintings mix a poetic vision with a profound love for colour. 2009 has seen a dramatic explosion of a new body of studio paintings based on Flamenco and architectual influences from Jerez de la frontera, Andalucia in Southern Spain.

Stephen is a committed artist with a growing reputation. His work is being increasingly collected.
