My interest is in making unsentimenal and characterful images of the birds and animals we see around us; initially sheep and goats, deer and badgers, poultry, quail and guinea-fowl, and subsequently wild birds - rooks, crows, magpies and more recently, buzzards.
My intention is that the work should be life-like but not obsessively so. Clay will always be clay. The sculptures therefore, are metaphors of the birds and animals they represent.
