A painter of light and atmosphere. Fascinated with sunlight, his paintings of Venice, the beach and sea radiate light. Landscapes and interiors also sparkle. His paint handling is sensitive and expressive. The work, painted on location, captures the immediacy of people on a beach against the light and colour of windbreaks. A sunlit day on the Grand Canal, the dazzling sunlight on the ever-changing surface of the sea, his paintings are a celebration of light.
