DORSET ART WEEKS COVER COMPETITION

The DAW Brochure Cover Competition is open to all artists, designers and makers taking part in DAW 2012.  You may submit one or two images only.

The image(s) must be of original work which remains readily available to the artist

NB. Images that do not comply or otherwise fail to open easily will not be considered

CONDITIONS - By entering you are agreeing to abide by the conditions and any subsequent decisions that will be necessary to produce the cover image.

PRIZE  - The winning artist will receive a prize of £250

Conditions of the Prize - The image will be used as the basis of the design for the cover of the 2012 DAW Brochure – see NB.  If a higher resolution is required and not available from the artist, DVA will arrange for this to be produced.  

The image will feature on circa 40K brochures and in the DAW supplement in the May – June issue of Evolver Magazine.  It will be used at the discretion of DVA for other DAW promotional materials.  The artist will be acknowledged on each occasion it is used.

N.B. the image may be cropped or otherwise edited to suit the brand and aesthetic intentions.  The artist will be consulted about any such amendment(s).  In the case of any difficulty, DVA will be the final arbitor and will, if necessary, re-allocate the prize

Up to 10 runners up ‘may’ also be included in the May-June issue of Evolver Magazine

JUDGING - Judging will take place before the 15th February – announcement around the 21st.

The judges will include: DVA Board Member + DVA Director + DAW Designer + Representatives of Humphries Kirk and Arts University Colllege Bournemouth UCB – Sponsors + Simon Barber – Editor, Evolver + Guest Artist/Designer

ONE WEEK TO GO – BE THERE

The Art Fair is for the public, artists and students.  It brings together many different art forms presented in a variety of ways and includes:

Animation – Architecture – Ceramics - Design – Drawing – Film – Furniture – Glass –  Painting – Sculpture  - Textiles and more

Come, join in and make this a stimulating and enjoyable day – maybe the best networking day for artists and those with an interest in the visual arts for many years.  You can more than save the entrance fee on the discounted prices in the art shop!

DON’T RUSH AWAY – THE CAFE IS NEXT DOOR - There’s SO MUCH TO SEE  and a live workshop to join in.

LAND ART WORKSHOP – inspired by the fantastic grounds that surround Kington Maurward House, join in the ‘land-art’ workshop led by artist Rachel Huggett

SEE – a ‘RAKU FIRING’  and STONE CARVING led by Bill Crumbleholme, Angelika Seik and Portland Sculpture Trust

INSIDE  - Each roomhas a different character.  As well as work for sale each includes either demonstrations, presentations or opportunities for discussion and information
